What Should You Do When a Water Damage Emergency Strikes?
- Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting.
- Wipe water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and tabletop items.
- Place aluminum foil, china saucers or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
- Remove and prop up wet upholstery cushions for even drying (check for possible bleeding).
- Turn on air conditioning for maximum drying in summer; open windows to speed drying in winter.
- Open drawers and cabinet doors for complete drying (do not force, however).
- Remove valuable oil paintings and art objects to a safe place.
- Blot wet carpeting with clean white towels.
- Open suitcases and luggage to dry, in sunlight if possible.
- Punch small holes in sagging ceilings to relieve trapped water ( don’t forget to place pans beneath! )
Quick and effective action at the earliest possible stage will reduce interruption to your home or business, reduce overall restoration costs and increase the likelihood that irreplaceable items will still be usable. This type of needed action can be facilitated by:
- Qualifying a drying contractor prior to any loss
- Communicating your agendas and plans with the contractor placing them into a written disaster recovery plan (DRP)
- It is very important to involve a drying contractor after a flood damage Kennesaw event. The contractor can help assess which items are worth restoration and which are better replaced. Damaged items that have lower costs associated with replacement and are easily obtained should be replaced rather than dried-out and restored. On the other hand, items that are difficult to replace or have a very high replacement cost validate the restoration effort.
- In general, drying out is more cost-effective than ripping out and replacing.
Basement Water Damage Cleanup and Removal
Basement water damage can happen in the Kennesaw area since most basements will sustain broken pipes, improper grading or window installation, sump pump failure, or leaking from foundation walls. Basement flooding can be a very serious matter. If it’s been more than 48 hours there will probably be mold growth, and wet drywall, flooring, and carpets will likely have to be replaced. It’s important to have a professional who understands how to perform complete water cleanup and structural drying come and take care of the basement flood damage as soon as possible before more damage occurs.
Sewage Damage Cleanup & Removal
Problems with your sewer system can cause significant sewage damage problems. In addition to the foul stench, other problems such as fungi, viruses, and other pathogens can create serious health hazards. If sewage problems remain untreated, they can cause major structural damage which can be extremely expensive to repair. In addition to water removal, Water Pro also handles sewage cleanup and sewage removal.
It’s critical that you do not try to clean up a mess from broken pipes that are connected to a sewage line. Only trained professionals with the right equipment should handle sewage damage. If you have a sewer line break or sewage backup, we are your sewage cleanup and sewage removal experts. Our team of professionally certified experts has years of experience resolving various sewage backup cleanup and repair problems.

More About Kennesaw GA
Camp MacDonald, a training camp, was located there from 1861 to 1863. During the Civil War, Big Shanty was the site of major fighting in the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. L.C. Chalker purchased a 1.25-acre (0.51 ha) tract of land adjacent to the Kennesaw Cemetery from J.W. Ellis in 1934, which was sold for burial purposes. Chalker purchased another 1 acre (0.40 ha) adjacent to the first parcel in 1948, which was also to be used for a cemetery. The Chalker family managed these portions of the cemetery until they were sold to the City of Kennesaw in the mid 1950s. The earliest known burial is the infant Lucius B. Summers, who was interred in 1863. Other grave markers date as far back as the 1860s to the 1890s. Civil War veterans are buried here. The cemetery is still in use.
